A former professional boxer is behind bars after he doused a woman in petrol after subjecting her to vicious sexual assault.Lyndon Newman, 31, launched a terrifying campaign of stalking and intimidation and bombarded his victim with threatening messages.
Detectives said she can now ‘breathe easily’ knowing that ‘this animal’ Newman is behind bars.
After a two week trial at Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court, he was found guilty of rape and stalking.
The former super welterweight who was known in the ring as Lyndon ‘Lights Out’ Newman, has now been jailed for 15 years.
He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life and given an indefinite restraining order against his victim.
