In a surprising gesture, Fahd Al Rooqi, Vice President of the Municipal Council of Makkah, announced that he will buy a new car which will replace the one burned at Jumum village just a few days ago. The two men responsible for the act were arrested.
Al Rooqi lent a helping hand to the female Saudi citizen after knowing she was the sole breadwinner for her aging parents and husband.
The vehicle will be of a newer model than the one which was burned in the incident, he said. She had bought the car from her cousin and had parked the
car in front of her house while awaiting final procedures to go through with her driver's license, according to Erem News.
The police force in the Emirate of Makkah Province also posted a statement on their twitter handle regarding the fire incident.
"The two men who set fire to the woman's car in Jumum village have been arrested. They are two men who live in the area. One of whom bought petrol from a nearby gas station, then he contacted the other who helped him commit the act. They have been referred to the prosecution to undertake the necessary legal proceedings."
The video of the incident has gone viral on social media, where the owner of the car identifies herself and relates that several men of her neighborhood on the outskirts of Makkah burned her vehicle on purpose.
According to the video, the woman brokenly relates: "They are against my driving. I had to enter a chit fund to pay for it. What will happen to me now?"
A spokesperson for the Makkah police stated that: "Security forces started the cooling operations at 4:30am after receiving reports of a fire which was set on purpose in Samad area in Jamoom province in Makkah.
"Investigations are ongoing as to the persons responsible for this heinous crime."
