A dad has been accused of dragging his baby through broken glass after hurling her at his girlfriend during an argument.
Police said Randle Maddox lost his temper during a row over who was feeding the child, before throwing a glass at his partner.
It smashed, and it is now claimed the father dragged the infant across the floor and through all the shattered shards of razor sharp glass.
News Channel 3 reports the Tipton County man is now facing aggravated child abuse and domestic assault charges.
Authorities say he dragged a newborn over the glass fragments and even hit the baby’s mother during an argument at their Burlison home on Saturday morning.
The news channel was told by the Tipton County Sheriff's Office that 26-year-old Maddox lobbed the glass cup at his girlfriend through a window after she asked him to make a bottle for their five-week-old daughter.
The tot had woken for a 4am feed and had been crying.
Police said they were told the cup broke and Maddox then dragged the infant over the pieces of broken glass before jumping on the bed.
Explaining what allegedly happened, Deputy Chief Shannon Beasley with the sheriff's office told the news station:
The police were called in when the baby was treated at a local hospital for lacerations to her back.
The baby's grandmother, Patricia Maddox was in disbelief, and told the news channel: "He loved the kid. That baby was his life. No way would he do that to my grandbaby. No way."
And the suspect's father Robert also defended his son saying it was the baby's mother that hurt the child.
Robert said:
In addition to dragging his daughter through glass, Maddox is also accused of hitting his girlfriend in the face and allegedly telling her: "I wish I had a gun so I could kill you and then myself so [the baby] would have no one."
