A GOOD Samaritan who stopped to help a man in the street has been raped at knife point.
Police have launched an investigation after the woman was attacked in north London.
A man asked the woman for some change as she walked in Wontner Close, Islington.
When the woman, aged in her late 50s, gave him the cash, the man grabbed her by the shoulder and pushed her into Heddington Close.
Metropolitan Police said the man threatened the woman with a knife and raped her before emptying her handbag and stealing valuables.
The attacker walked away from the scene towards Popham Road.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack which happened between 11.30pm on Thursday September 1 and 12.30am on Friday September 2.
The victim was taken to a specialist care unit by police who were called to the scene.
No arrests have been made. Enquiries are ongoing.
DC Sarah Hunter from the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said: “This was a horrific attack on a woman who had stopped to help a stranger when he asked her for some change.
"Were you in the area at the time of attack? Did you see anything suspicious?
“My team are keen to hear from anyone who has information that can assist the investigation.
“This was a callous attack which has left the victim very traumatised.”
The suspect is described as a dark-skinned black man, between 5ft 4in to 5ft 6ins of medium build wearing dark clothing, either black or dark blue. He is believed to be aged between 30 and 40 years.
