Music Legend Chaka Khan Checks Into Rehab



63 year old music legend Chaka Khan cancelled her upcoming performance at the California State Fair as well as all her performances through the end of July
and checked herself into rehab for an addiction to prescription pain medication, her rep confirmed to theModesto Bee.
Khan, who is best known for hits such as “I’m Every Woman” and “I Feel For You,” was close friends and oft-collaborator with the late Prince, who was found to have had a longtime struggle with a painkiller addictionleading up to his death from an overdose of fentanyl in April.

While Prince’s addiction stemmed from chronicpainafterahipinjury,Khan’srepresentatives have not identified the cause for the songstress’ addiction.
In a statement later released to the Associated Press on Sunday, Khan revealed that she has been battling an addiction to the same medication that led to Prince's death and his passing spurred her and her sister to seek treatment.

"The tragic death of Prince has has us both rethinking and reevaluating our lives and priorities," Khan said. "We knew it was time to take action to save our lives. My sister and I would like to thank everyone for their support, love and prayers."

Khan has battled with drug and alcohol addiction in the past and has been to rehab several times before.

Khan’s performance at the California State Fair was originally set for Monday, July 11.
