Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi and his father have been sentenced to 21 months in jail on tax charges.
A Spanish court has said the sentences for the 29-year-old Argentina striker can be appealed through the country's Supreme Court. Messi has been fined two million euro. His father was given the same jail sentence and a fine of 1.5 million euro. In Spain, sentences of less than two years for first offences are suspended, meaning neither man will go to jail.
How come foreign super stars evade tax like plague?
