Kano gov meets with husband of woman murdered over blasphemy


Following the outrage after the murder of a woman in Kano for alleged blasphemy.Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano State has promised to unmask the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
Ganduje made the promise while addressing newsmen after a meeting with Islamic scholars, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), leaders of different ethnic groups in the state and the deceased husband.
He assured the stakeholders that security operatives would unmask those involved in the murder of the 74 year old woman with a view to prosecuting them.


Late Mrs .Bridget Patience was lynched to death at Wambai Market in Kano after she requested her neighbor not to perform his ablution in front of her shop's door as she was about to close for the day .The man in question was angered and termed it blasphemy,.He called on other Muslims in the area who pounced on her .She was lynched while her helpless husband watched.
The governor, who described the incident as unfortunate and barbaric, condoled with the husband of the deceased and her family.
He said that all the stakeholders had unanimously agreed that Mrs Bridget’s death was uncalled for and totally condemned the action.
The stakeholders also agreed that justice must be done as the suspect had been apprehended by the police.
He promised that the state government would assist the family of the deceased to prepare for the burial arrangements.
