The arrested suspects were Badejo Festus, aka Otinan, 22; Owaidiegwu Felix; and Nasiru Olanihun, 21.
Festus was released from Agodi prison in May. The state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude, while parading the suspects at the state police headquarters in Ibadan, said their arrest was made possible after a receiver of one of the stolen vehicles was arrested in Sango area of Ibadan on June 8.
Odude said, “A syndicate that specialised in stealing vehicles from where they were parked has been smashed by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the command. The arrest of three members of the syndicate at about 8 pm on June 8, 2017 was made possible following intelligence received about the nefarious activities of the gang.
“One of the criminal receivers was arrested by the Sango Police Division on June 8, 2017, while he was trying to sell a car, which was earlier stolen from where it was parked at Agbaje area, Ibadan on May 26, 2017. Further investigation coupled with credible intelligence carried out by the special squad led to the arrest of the kingpin in Ibadan.”
